• Robin Travis Scholarship 2016

    Robin Travis was a Thomas Miller director who had a love of Germany and was responsible for all our German business, initially for UK P&I Club and later for the Through Transport Club. He died suddenly and prematurely in 1991.

    In 1992, Thomas Miller set up a scholarship in his memory. The 19th Robin Travis scholarship will be awarded in 2016 and will provide a three-month internship for a motivated individual working in Germany, who wishes to progress their career and broaden their experience of the shipping, transport and insurance sectors. The chosen scholar will work in our head office in London and the London offices of selected lawyers, surveyors, insurance brokers and other shipping, transport and insurance businesses, gaining both practical and theoretical knowledge and experience.

    Commencement
    A date to be agreed from September 2016 for a three-month period.

    Location
    The Head Office of Thomas Miller, 90 Fenchurch Street, London EC3M 4ST, and the London offices of selected lawyers, surveyors, insurance brokers and other shipping, transport and insurance businesses.

    Programme
    You will spend approximately 6 weeks with Thomas Miller. For the remainder of the three-month period, arrangements will be made for you to visit selected businesses tailored to the interests of the individual.

    Candidate
    A bright, enthusiastic person currently employed in Germany for a business within the shipping, transport or insurance sectors.

    Scholarship
    € 10,000 for a three-month period (the scholar will be expected to pay for their own accommodation and subsistence).

  • Mansion House Scholarship for Finance and Shipping Postgraduate Courses

    The British Embassy in Athens is currently accepting applications for the Mansion House Scholarship Scheme. The award is worth up to a maximum of £7,500. This may be used to fund postgraduate courses at British universities or business training attachments in the City of London.

    To be eligible to apply for the scholarship you must:

    • be a Greek citizen, aged under 35
    • be a graduate with at least a Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 7.5 from a local university or TEI
    • be able to provide a copy of your degree and all relevant documentation by 10 July 2016
    • be able to provide the acceptance letter from a British University for a postgraduate course or equivalent in Finance or Shipping by 31 August 2016.

  • Scholarship by the IGMS-GrC

    The IGMS-GrC announces that is offering a scholarship for its members in Shipping at the University of Athens. The scholarship covers one of the following programs:

    • Chartering
    • Shipping Finance
    • Shipping Logistics
    • Shipping and Procurement Management
    • Maritime Strategy, Claims and Operations
    • Maritime Business Administration

  • HELMEPA Scholarships for 2016-2017

    The Hellenic Marine Environment Protection Association – HELMEPA, honoring the late George P. Livanos, Founder, Captain Vassilis C. Constantakopoulos, Honorary Chairman and Stavros Daifas, Founding Member, announces 3 scholarships valued at €15,000 each, for candidates pursuing one-year post graduate courses (Masters level) for the 2016-2017 academic year, in any country of the European Union, in the following fields:

    • Shipping, in memory of George P. Livanos. Priority is given to those applicants whose parents are Greek seafarers and fulfill all the required criteria.
    • Environmental Science,in memory of Captain Vassilis C. Constantakopoulos. Priority is given to those applicants who in the past have been members of the “HELMEPA Junior” and “HELMEPA Cadets” environmental programs and fulfill all the required criteria.
    • Naval Engineering – Marine/Offshore Engineering and Technology, in memory of Stavros Daifas. The Scholarship is a kind offer of his daughter, Ms. Irene Daifa, a long-standing Member and current Special Secretary at HELMEPA’s Board of Directors.

  • Thomas B. Crowley Sr. Memorial Scholarship Program

    Since 1984, Crowley has provided more than $3 million dollars in scholarship funding for more than 1,000 students. The company has also donated more than $2 million over the years to support other educational programs.

    In 1994, Crowley Chairman and CEO Tom Crowley Jr., established the Thomas B. Crowley Sr. Memorial Scholarship Program, in honor of his father, who guided the company to extraordinary heights before passing away in 1994. The company continues to give scholarship dollars to deserving students in the U.S., Alaska and Puerto Rico. In 2006, the program expanded to Central America and to date has provided financial assistance to 20 students in that region.

    Today the company provides scholarships to the academies and institutions found here. Students and educators interested in learning more about the scholarship and requirements should contact the school’s financial aid office directly.
