Tourism training workshop in DPRK
Mr. Panagiotis Ktenas, member of the executive board of IGMS GrC, attended as a lecturer the tourism workshop that took place in DPRK (North Korea) from 14 to 21/05/2016. During this short period, workshop leaders had the opportunity to travel to Wonsan region with a goal to examine area’s tourist attractions and how they can be further developed. The workshop seminar of a total duration of three days was housed in Grand People’s Study House in Pyongyang. Mr. Ktenas had the opportunity in 2 subsequent sessions to analyse the future of coastal marine tourism development of Wonsan region, giving a special emphasis to the threats and opportunities that arise due to global trends and domestic peculiarities. A Q & A session followed where the opportunity was given to the audience in raising and resolving any questions. During break sessions, Mr. Ktenas had the opportunity to discuss with participants about the work of IGMS GrC and provide a better understanding of its mission and vision. Future cooperation has been investigated in a variety of fields of common interest. All sides agreed that proper training is a “must” for any nation to progress. A warmth visit has been finalised with a promise to be repeated in the near future.
IGMS GrC was present at Arctic Assembly 2015
Our executive board member, Mr.Ktenas Panagiotis F’14, represented IGMS GrC in 2015 Arctic Circle Assembly. The Arctic Circle is an annual open assembly that takes place in mid-October in Reykjavík, Iceland. The annual program is designed in collaboration with partnering organizations. The Arctic Circle facilitates working meetings across issues and organizations and provides a forum for discussions hosted by different international and Arctic institutions. Following meetings, participating organizations are invited to contribute ideas for the next year’s Arctic Circle assembly. IGMS GrC had the opportunity to collaborate with our counterparts from IGMS USA in order to better comprehend complex arctic related issues. Further to that, Mr.Ktenas Panagiotis, took all that initiatives to promote IGMS GrC core principles and vision and establish a presence of our institution abroad.
Fire Safety on a Passenger Vessel
The IGMS-GrC board was invited to the presentation of the new book of Mrs Vassiliki Kalemi, entitled “Fire Safety on a Passenger Vessel”. The very interesting presentation took place in the Auditorium of the Technical Chamber of Greece (TEE) in Syntagma Square in Athens, on December 6th.
AMVER Awards 2013
The IGMS-GrC board attended the 2013 AMVER Awards ceremony in Athens’ Intercontinental Hotel, organized by the International Propeller Club of the United States, International Port of Piraeus in co-operation with the United States Embassy in Greece, the USCG, as well as the Hellenic Coast Guard.
